Covid-19 Travel Insurance
We’ve been living with Covid-19 for a while now and things are starting to get back to normal. So why do you need Coronavirus Travel Insurance?
Covid-19 can still affect your trip. Ensuring your Travel Insurance has comprehensive cover for Coronavirus means that you don’t need to worry about it once you’re on your trip, or if you need to cancel your holiday due to you or a close relative catching Covid-19.
We’ve gathered some key facts you should know about our Coronavirus Travel Insurance, along with some of the most frequently asked questions.
This is general advice only. Please read our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) to make sure this cover is right for you.

Top 3 things to look out for in a Covid-19 Travel Insurance policy
Comprehensive Travel Insurance is a must when planning a holiday. Look for a policy to protect you for different eventualities around Coronavirus.
- Emergency medical cover: if you contract Coronavirus when you’re away
- Cancellation cover: that covers you for cancellation or cutting short your trip due to Coronavirus
- Repatriation cover: to bring you back to Australia again if needed, as well as cover for a continued recuperation stay overseas. Recuperation costs do not apply if you are in Australia.
AllClear policies provide cover for all of the above, giving you a comprehensive Covid-19 cover.
Levels of Travel Insurance cover
We offer three levels of cover: Gold Plus, Gold and Traveller. The Traveller product is only available for Single Trip policies. This is general advice only. Please read our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) to make sure this cover is right for you.
- Up to Unlimited emergency medical expenses, including repatriation to help you get back home where needed
- Cancellation and trip disruption are covered up to your chosen limit for Covd-19
This includes:
- If you are medically diagnosed with Covid-19 after you purchase the policy
- Your immediate relative, who is resident in Australia or New Zealand and who is in Australia or New Zealand at the time the event occurs, being diagnosed with Covid-19 after you purchase the policy
All figures are per person and trip. Cancellation and curtailment cover does not apply if you have chosen a product which excludes cancellation.
We provide cover for other incidents, unrelated to Covid-19 which may occur. These include baggage costs and unrelated medical treatment too.
Please note: we do not cover any claims arising from or relating to any government travel bans, “Do not travel” warnings, government-directed border closure, or mandatory quarantine or self-isolation requirements related to cross-border, region or territory travel.
What does AllClear’s Travel Insurance cover?
Our Travel Insurance protects you against potential disruptions or unexpected events while you’re travelling the world.
What's covered?
Costs of tests, medications, and procedures needed to treat an illness or injury while travelling. You’ll also be covered for repatriation to bring you safely back home.
Cover for flight and accommodation costs if an unexpected event means you have to cancel your trip before you go.
Cover for emergencies that force you to return home early.
Compensation for extra costs if your flight is delayed.
Insures your baggage and its contents against loss or theft.
Cover for legal costs to claim compensation for incidents during your trip.
Our Seniors Travel Insurance policies have no upper age limit. We believe everyone deserves to enjoy a holiday with the right cover, regardless of age.
What’s not covered?
For most claims, you won’t be covered for the travel insurance excess (the first part of any claim).
Your cover is limited to trips within the designated region of cover you chose, whether that’s Australia or overseas.
Claims related to events or issues that you knew about before buying the travel insurance or before booking any individual trip are not covered.
You need to declare all your medical conditions. If not, we won’t be able to cover you for any unexpected treatment connected to known health concerns.
We know that plans change, but you’re only covered for cancellation if the reason is within the policy terms and conditions.
This is general advice only. Please read our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) to make sure this cover is right for you.

FAQs
If you contract Coronavirus before you go on holiday, are you covered for cancelling your holiday?
Yes, on AllClear Gold, Gold Plus and Traveller policies. Cover applies if you are medically diagnosed with Covid-19, and have booked your trip and bought your Travel Insurance policy before contracting the illness. In this instance, you can submit a cancellation claim for consideration with supporting evidence, as long as the cancellation is necessary and unavoidable.
Do you need a pre-departure test before boarding your flight when leaving Australia?
It depends. If you are heading overseas, you do not need a negative test to meet Australian outbound travel requirements. However some countries and airlines do require a negative test, so make sure you check before you leave for the airport.
Do you need to provide a proof of vaccination document to leave Australia?
No. As of 6th July 2022, you do not need to be fully vaccinated or have a relevant medical exemption before you can leave Australia.
How many doses do you need to be ‘fully vaccinated’?
You need to have completed the primary course of TGA recognised vaccines. If you are medically exempt from taking the vaccine, you must provide evidence of this. Children under the age of 12 years and 3 months do not require the vaccination, in line with Australian government advice.
Do you need to wear a mask during a flight?
No. As of the 8th September 2022, masks are no longer required on flights.
Can you travel to other states and territories in Australia?
Yes. There are no longer any restrictions on internal travel within Australia. However, each territory does have its own rules and advice for Covid-19, which you should check before you travel.
Where can you check the latest Covid-19 travel advice?
You can visit either the Home Affairs website or the Australian Government site for the latest Covid-19 updates.
Where can you find destination-specific Coronavirus advice?
As well as visiting the government site for your destination, you can also use Smart Traveller to check your destination.
Can you contact the National Coronavirus Helpline from overseas?

+61 2 4058 2975, +61 3 6145 0026 or +61 2 4018 3442.
