If things go wrong while you're performing activities like surfing, scuba diving,  fishing, hiking and much more, we can provide cover in certain areas. This includes personal liability cover.

However, we don’t provide cover for emergency medical expenses. Check out our PDS for more information.

We also offer special cover for skiing and golfing. This includes financial cover for lost, stolen or damaged ski equipment, and for piste closure.

If you're heading out to one of Australia's many stunning golf courses, you can rest assured we offer cover for this, as well. We can cover lost, stolen or damaged golfing equipment, as well as your green fees if you're unable to play due to a serious injury or illness occurring during your trip.

Rental vehicle insurance excess cover

With so much to see all around this beautiful country, it makes perfect sense to jump into a rental vehicle on your domestic holiday. However, without comprehensive Travel Insurance cover, you could face financial hardship if things go wrong.

AllClear Travel Insurance covers rental vehicle excess if your rental vehicle is involved in a motor vehicle accident while you are driving. We also provide cover for incidents where your vehicle is damaged or stolen while in your custody.

This cover does not take the place of rental vehicle insurance, which is also crucial for peace of mind on your journey. It also only applies to rental vehicles with less than 9 seats, and doesn't apply in cases of off-road driving.

Cover for domestic cruises

To make sure you can be covered for the holiday of your dreams, we also offer cover for domestic cruises. Our Cruise Travel Insurance covers the unique risks of cruises.

With Cruise Travel Insurance, you're covered for cabin confinement. This means we offer financial cover if you are required to stay in your cruise cabin due to an illness.

We also offer cover for missed ports. If the total number of docked ports is fewer than the number scheduled on your cruise itinerary, you're covered.

Our specialised Cruise Insurance is the perfect option to ensure that you have adequate cover if your oceanic holiday gets side-tracked.

Travel safety tips in Australia

Here are some important tips to keep in mind to stay safe on a domestic holiday:

  • Local wildlife: Australia is world-famous for its dangerous wildlife. Be sure to keep this in mind on your travels. This is especially important if you're travelling to new parts of the country you're unfamiliar with. For example, many waterways in northern parts of Australia are filled with dangerous wildlife like crocodiles.
  • Marked paths and roads: It's safest to stick to marked paths and roads on your travels. If you're heading deeper into bushland, ensure you are adequately prepared.
  • Weather conditions: You can encounter all kinds of different weather conditions when travelling around Australia. To make sure you aren't caught unawares by dangerous weather, rely on resources like the Bureau of Meteorology.
  • Beaches: It isn't an Australian holiday without a visit to the beach. Just keep in mind it's always safest to stick to patrolled beaches.

Things to do before beginning domestic travel in Australia

Here are a few things to take care of before beginning your travels:

  • Travel insurance: Ensure you have the right domestic cover for your adventure. It's important to allow you to conduct your journey with confidence.
  • Rental vehicle and health insurance: Other kinds of insurance are important for your trip, too. AllClear's Domestic Travel Insurance doesn't offer cover for emergency medical expenses. You'll need to ensure your health insurance policy provides the cover you need. Of course, don't neglect rental vehicle insurance, either.
  • Internet connectivity: Trekking through rural parts of Australia? Internet connectivity can be spotty in certain places. To ensure smooth travels, download your maps ahead of time, or prepare to rely on non-digital directions.
  • Vehicle check-up: If you're driving long distances in your own vehicle, make sure to check up on things like tyre pressure and oil levels before setting out. This will reduce the risk of disruptions on your trip.

Top places to visit in Australia

Need some travel inspiration? Here are some of our favourite Down Under destinations:

  • Sydney: Australia's largest city is home to some of its most iconic sights. If you haven't checked out the Harbour Bridge, Opera House or Bondi Beach, Sydney should be high on your Aussie bucket list.
  • Melbourne: For a different side of Australian urban life, check out Melbourne. You can explore the National Gallery of Victoria, Queen Victoria Market and Melbourne Zoo. Of course, you can't miss an AFL game when you're in town.
  • Gold Coast: Find out why the Gold Coast is synonymous with perfect beaches and outstanding nightlife. Plus, don't miss out on the city's famed theme parks including Movie World and Sea World.
  • Uluru: This iconic landmark is an unmissable sight for any Australian. You can also travel 18km north to see the awe-inspiring Field of Light art installation for a whole new perspective on Uluru.
  • Tasmania: Travel south to Tasmania to check out some of the most underrated attractions in the country. Explore urban locations like Hobart and Launceston. You can also check out stunning nature in locations like Freycinet National Park.
